the story

December 21, 2012. The day everyone had believed would be the end of the world. I suppose in a way, it was, for the world as everyone knew it, would never be the same. It was on that day that WWIII broke out, the non-believers taking advantage of the fear others had of the apocalypse and hoping to use it to gain easy control over other territories. However nothing went as planned. As the war raged on, the world’s greatest democracies, monarchies, all sorts of governments were crumbling to the ground. It was here that our story began. Behind the scenes, the dawn of a new age was near. A time for evil to arise, and a transformation of the earth to occur. This revolution was led by Nicoleta Daciana, ruler of the night, manipulator of shadows, an evil genius. However Nicoleta hadn’t always been that way.

From an early age, it’s was well known Nicoleta would be destined for greatness. Her intelligence was extraordinary, proving to be a literal genius, and graduating high school at the age of 13. Her mother was a scientist, her father a doctor, so she wanted to somehow join the two, for both interested her. She went on to study genealogy in college. She studied immensely, putting all her time and effort into gaining more knowledge and better understanding of the way genes work. She moved on to study further in genetic mutations, conducting series upon series of experiments. It was then that she began to realize she could alter, or mutate, a human’s genetic make-up and allow for new senses. Or rather, abilities.

From there, she began to build an antibody, or drug, that was able to cause such mutations, and allow for these special abilities to be awakened. The knowledge, the possibilities, the power, all began to corrupt her. It had all began with good intentions, but with the possibility of creating an elite, privileged new breed of mankind, the temptation was too great. It was there that her clever mastermind turned to the darkside. After the drug was perfected, she adjusted it uniquely to herself, before taking it. She had given herself a rare ability, shadow manipulation, or shadow bending. She would be able to control anything that cast a shadow, including the shadow. And as with any villain, she would be in need of minions. She began to create her own elite army or mutants, and soon entered the war.

No one knew what to think of this young clairvoyant woman, and her specially talented army. That alone was both terrifying and exciting. They fought against her, but it proved to be a losing battle each time. Nicoleta soon pushed toward total world domination. She sought after any skilled or talented human being, beginning with criminals, to convert and add to her army. Any who resisted were forced into compliance either way. It didn’t matter for the victim anyway, for Nicoleta would use a swiper to erase any previous memories. All they would know is what Nicoleta would teach them to believe. After, she moved on to humans of great intelligence, high strength, whatever she could use to her benefit against her enemies. Once selected by her, there is no choice but to either accept it willfully, and be rewarded, or have it forced upon you with no mercy.

present day

It’s 2016 now, and the world is almost completely under control of Nicoleta, Mistress of Night. Her fortress is unknown except to those of her favorite followers she keeps close to home. Human numbers have dwindled down to mere hundreds, scattered about, and all forced in to hiding, in fear. There are still a large group that are banding together to oppose her, primarily government/military forces, taking on the name of the Defenders, hidden away in Inari, Finland. However, it’s clear that hope is last thing standing for them. You can try to run. You can try to hide. But they will find you.
